02 · What we pay for

The price is about gold content, not appearance.

Most people think a scratched ring is worth less than a polished one. It isn't. The gold in both pieces is the same gold, and we pay for weight times purity — not condition.

A 14K chain weighs what it weighs. 58.3% of that weight is pure gold. The other 41.7% is alloy (copper, silver, zinc, or palladium) that strengthens the chain so it doesn't deform in daily wear. When we buy that chain, we're paying for the 58.3% — the alloy has essentially no resale value to us.

The XRF analyzer at our counter confirms the karat in seconds — and you watch the reading. We weigh every piece individually on a state-certified scale. Your offer is the live gold spot price times the gram weight times the purity times our payout percentage (88% for investment-grade gold). That's it. No deductions. No mystery fees.

"Don't repair or clean anything before bringing it in. Polish adds zero value and subtracts gold content."
03 · What we buy

Every common piece, across every karat.

If it's gold and you want to sell it, it's on this list. Bring it in a bag, a box, or a tangle — sorting is our job.

i.

Rings & bands

Wedding bands, engagement rings, class rings, signet rings, cocktail rings. With or without stones — we evaluate diamonds separately and return small accent stones to you.

ii.

Chains & necklaces

Rope, curb, figaro, herringbone, box, Byzantine, snake. Solid gold or hollow. Kinked, broken clasps, knots — makes no difference to the weight.

iii.

Bracelets & bangles

Tennis bracelets, link bracelets, charm bracelets, bangles, cuffs. 22K Indian bangles evaluated separately — they're often worth a premium over scrap.

iv.

Earrings & pendants

Studs, hoops, dangles, chandeliers. Single earrings count the same as pairs — we don't deduct for a missing match.

Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

How is gold jewelry valued at your San Jose shop?
Each piece is acid-tested or XRF-verified for karat (10K/14K/18K/22K/24K), weighed on a calibrated scale on a video call or in person, then multiplied by today’s live spot price for that karat. The on-screen calculator shows weight × purity × spot — no hidden ‘refining fee’.
Do you buy gold-plated or gold-filled jewelry?
We test every piece, so we’ll tell you for free whether something is solid gold, gold-filled or plated. Plated and filled items have only a microscopic gold layer over a base metal, so the recoverable value is usually below what it would cost to refine — we’ll be straight with you about it.
Can I sell gold jewelry without the original receipt or box?
Yes. Receipts, appraisals and boxes are nice to have but not required to sell gold jewelry in San Jose. Our offer is based on tested karat and measured weight, not paperwork.
What about diamonds or gemstones set in my gold jewelry?
We separate the metal value from any stones. Center stones (typically 0.30 ct and up, with grading paperwork) may be offered for separately. Smaller accent stones often have little resale value but you’re welcome to keep them — we’ll remove them at no charge.
Is selling gold jewelry in San Jose safe?
Yes. Our counter is monitored, every transaction is logged with photo ID per California law, and you receive a written offer you can take home and compare. You’re free to walk away at any point — there is never any pressure to sell.
